Arsenal fans on Twitter tear into Giroud after recent comments

Arsenal fans thought that Olivier Giroud would always be a hero at The Emirates. However, it seems the Frenchman is doing everything he can to distance himself from the North London club. In doing that, he’s made some bold claims in an interview on The Mail Online, leading to loads of abuse from Arsenal supporters.

Giroud has not been the most clinical striker that Chelsea have ever had. However, the Frenchman has been the Europa League Ronaldo. His 10 goals and three assists in 13 games have made him one of the most clinical players in UEFA’s second string competition, yet when he faces Arsenal the Gunners are intent on making the Frenchman’s trip to Baku as painful as their travels will likely be.

The Europa League final is already being looked at as a massive shambles and motivation for the clash will be hard to muster for a lot of Arsenal fans. Now, though, Giroud has sorted that problem for the Gunners, as they’ll get just as much joy in winning the Europa League as they will in seeing Giroud crying after losing seeing as he’s come out with comments like ‘my blood is blue now’.

You can read the Gunners’ thoughts on Giroud here:

The Gunners hate the idea of seeing Giroud score the winner against them, but they will be delighted if the Frenchman is left in tears after a loss given his recent comments.

Yes please: Aston Villa fans call for club to sign Liverpool’s Ryan Kent

[ad_pod ]

According to The Sun, Aston Villa want to sign Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent in this summer’s transfer window.

And a number of Villa fans are keen for their club to swoop for the 22-year-old.

Kent has spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Rangers – scoring six times and contributing nine assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.

The attacker has actually only represented Liverpool’s first team on one occasion.

Indeed, the bulk of his first-team action has come during loan spells with Coventry City, Barnsley, Freiburg, Bristol City and Rangers.

According to The Sun, Villa are determined to purchase Kent in a £10m deal.

Rangers fans are desperate for their club to sign the former England Under-20 international on a permanent deal this summer, which shows just how dazzling he was for the Gers this term.

However, Villa appear to be in the driving seat and the club’s fans are keen for a swoop to take place ahead of the new campaign.

Tottenham: Hirving Lozano would add some necessary spice to weakened forward line-up

Tottenham are apparently in hot pursuit of Mexican whizz Hirving Lozano.

Well, according to CalcioNapoli24, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs are keen to sign PSV Eindhoven’s impressive winger and it’s hard to see how this wouldn’t be a good move.

This isn’t the first time Spurs have registered their interest in the player having apparently (as per TEAMtalk) pursued him following the most recent instalment of the World Cup in Russia. And surely they’ll be inspired by the fact that the little Mexican whippet has produced a mightily successful season in the Netherlands, claiming 21 goals and 12 assists across 40 appearances in all competitions.

Jesus Martinez, chairman of the player’s former club Pachuca, told ESPN Deportes back in March that Manchester United had been tracking him since he was 16, so it’s clear the 23-year-old has been making an impression for quite some time.

If it didn’t hit home last summer, surely it’s beginning to dawn on Spurs fans that they’re going to need to sign some players in the upcoming window if they’re to stay afloat. Fernando Llorente, the man who bundled in Spurs’ route to the Champions League final, expected to leave, Harry Kane missed 17 games due to injury and Vincent Jansson has played 144 minutes of football (only 36 of which came in the Premier League). With that in mind, Lozano could provide the necessary quality in a region of the pitch they’re becoming increasingly weak in.

Compared to Spurs’ current forwards, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min, both of whom we considered to have performed particularly well this year, Lozano reigns supreme in a few all-important statistics.

For example, while Son produced 12 goals and six assists, and Lucas 10 (with zero assists), in the recently completed Premier League season, the Mexican managed to net 17 times and created on eight separate occasions for his teammates, in the Eredivisie. And though Son and Moura both finished on an impressive 2.4 and 1.4 shots per game, Lozano trumps them both with an average of 3 – at much higher conversion rate, according to Squakwa.

Obviously, it’d be a step up in quality but, looking at the raw stats, there’s a player there waiting to be unleashed. And at the very least, his talents could alleviate some of the pressure on Harry Kane, if not optimise his performances. What’s not to like about that?

Spurs fans, would you be happy to sign Hirving Lozano? Who would he replace? How many players do you realistically think you need to introduce this summer? Let us know in the comments below…

The Chalkboard: Forgotten Arzani can finally deliver on promise at Celtic next season

[ad_pod ]

The season is barely over at Celtic but with pre-season training for next term due to start in just a few weeks time, thoughts are already drifting towards the UEFA Champions League qualifiers that will define the Hoops’ summer.

Manager Neil Lennon knows he needs to pick up early good results to win over some sceptical fans that don’t believe he is the right man to lead the club forward.

With competitive games arriving so quickly he’s unlikely to have made all the signings he wants to revitalise his squad, so will have to rely on players already at the club to get the job done in initial qualifying.

One player that could provide an attacking boost to the team though is Australian international Daniel Arzani, who should be fit and available again after a long-term knee injury that ruined his season at Celtic Park.

On the chalkboard

Arzani managed just 33 minutes of football at Celtic before suffering an injury at Dens Park that kept him out for the entire campaign, perhaps making him the unluckiest debutante in recent memory.

Signing for Manchester City last summer after catching the eye for Australia during the World Cup, the player is thought to have significant potential, but hasn’t yet been able to show what he can do in British football.

His loan at Celtic Park fortunately runs until the summer of 2020 though and having put in the hard work to get back to fitness, The Daily Record reported last month he should be fit in time for the new season.

He plays predominately on the left wing, and that just so happens to be an area of the pitch that Celtic need a bit of inspiration in, making him well-placed to freshen up a Hoops side that has often been struggling for ideas in recent months.

Sinclair problem

Scott Sinclair has dominated the left wing position at Celtic for three seasons now and while he’s scored an impressive amount of goals in that time, 60 in total, his overall game has significantly regressed over the last 18 months.

Lennon actually started to rely on Jonny Hayes and Mikey Johnston instead when naming his starting elevens in the tail-end of the season, so there is definitely room for Arzani to impress and make the position his own in the early stages of next term.

A right-footed winger who has exciting close control skills and can drift in from the left flank, he fits the profile of players that traditionally excite Celtic fans – a Patrick Roberts type character who can entertain and get supporters on their feet.

Obviously there will be work to do to get that match sharpness back, but the path to the first-team this season is arguably clearer for the Australian than last season and that must be giving him hope.

Not sure: Leeds fans worried as QSI rumours resurface

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter are concerned about the future of the club after rumours of Qatar Sports Investments buying a share of the club resurfaced.

The investment group that owns PSG have been linked with purchasing a share of the Yorkshire club from Andrea Radrizzani over the past few weeks, but speculation had cooled until this latest report was published.

On Monday it came out that Radrizzani is set to meet with the Qataris, and fans were once again frenzied about the potential repercussions the takeover could have on their club.

Of course, certain supporters were excited about the potential riches that come with having billionaire owners, but others weren’t so thrilled.

The fanbase have had concerns about how much QSI will be focused Leeds as they have a much more vested interest in PSG. Many have pointed towards the other clubs owned by Man City’s owners as examples of what Leeds could become.

Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on Twitter…

Spurs given clear run to sign Sessegnon

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have been given a clear run at signing Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon after Liverpool pulled out of the race, per Goal.

What’s the word?

Sessegnon endured a mixed season at the Cottagers in 2018-19, with Scott Parker’s men ultimately relegated to the Championship.

However, he played 38 times in all competitions and is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in English football.

Liverpool had been linked with the 18-year-old but Goal now claim that Reds officials believe that he will instead move to Spurs this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino, of course, has a track record of working wonders with young players and the London Evening Standard has previously reported that Sessegnon is keen to work with the Argentine.

No great coup

This may be seen as a coup for Spurs, with Liverpool the second-best team in England, but Sessegnon is something of an enigma.

He doesn’t really have a fixed position – he has played at left-back and on the left wing sporadically for Fulham – and while he is an explosive dribbler, he is unlikely to dislodge either Danny Rose or Son Heung-Min from Pochettino’s starting XI.

There is perhaps a reason, then, that the Reds are so ready to call time on their pursuit; he would not get in their side straight away and is surely viewed as an option that can be ignored.

That, alone, should set alarm bells ringing in north London.

Crystal Palace fans mock Manchester United’s £50m Wan-Bissaka bid

[ad_pod ]

Given the stellar campaigns enjoyed by star men Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, the main concern for many Crystal Palace fans this summer is not who they will or won’t sign, but who will and won’t stay – both local lads can be forgiven should they seek an exit, with a number of top clubs surely interested in their services.

Right-back Wan-Bissaka is being linked with a big money move to Manchester United, who offered the Eagles £50m for the 21-year-old this week, which breaks down into a £35m initial fee and up to £15m in add-ons – it is understood that the Selhurst Park outfit would accept £50m up front.

Despite the athletic number 29 having just one full season in the Premier League under his belt, he has established himself as one of the top right-backs in the game, statistically. There’s little doubt that he can be a world class talent in a matter of years and so plenty of Palace fans are laughing at the Red Devils’ attempt to get him on the cheap.

The clause in Andre Gomes’ move from Valencia to Barcelona that proves his pedigree

[ad_pod ]

The BBC have reported that Everton are closing in on a move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

Having already starred for the Toffees on loan last season, Marco Silva made it clear that he would like to try and sign the 25-year-old on a permanent basis, and he appears to have got his wish with the move seemingly imminent.

Back in 2017 when the Portuguese international completed a switch from Valencia to Barcelona in 2016, however, the two clubs seemingly thought that Gomes was set for bigger heights than Goodison Park – with all due respect to Everton of course.

Check out a fan’s outrageous call for England to take a leaf of out cricket and rugby’s book after a limp Nations League performance in the video below…

Gomes cost the Catalan giants a fixed €35m (£29.3m) at the time, with €20m (£16.7m) included in the deal in the form of achievement-related add-ons.

What the two clubs also agreed on was a Ballon d’Or clause. Yep, you read that correctly.

Barcelona sealed the deal by agreeing to pay Valencia an additional €15m (£13.3m) if Gomes won the Ballon d’Or during his time at the Camp Nou, an award handed to the best player in the world on a yearly basis.

SPORT reported at the time that the clause was justified due to the “the expectations and potential that FC Barcelona sees in the player.”

If one of the biggest clubs in world football thought Gomes could potentially become a Ballon d’Or winner, then that says a lot about the midfielder’s pedigree and just how good he really is.

The Everton fans already know that though. He starred in the middle of the park alongside Idrissa Gueye last term capturing the hearts of the supporters during his loan spell, and they will assumingly be overjoyed to have him come back on a permanent basis.

Whilst he should be expected to be one of their best players once again, one would assume another Ballon d’Or clause will not be included this time around.
