West Brom handed boost in Bryan pursuit

West Bromwich Albion have been handed a boost in their bid to bring Kean Bryan to The Hawthorns this summer.

What’s the talk?

In a recent interview with Yorkshire Live, the Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic revealed that the out of contract centre-back is yet to sign a new deal with his side, despite the club having offered the defender a new contract at the end of last season.

In the interview, the 52-year-old stated: “I don’t know what is happening, I don’t know if this guy wants to stay or if this guy wants to leave. I don’t want this to complicate my team. He can go if he wants or he can offer his services to Sheffield United.”

Last month, The Sun reported that Bryan would be open to making a move to Valerien Ismael’s West Brom side this summer, with the Frenchman having targeted the former England U20 international during his time at Barnsley.

Ismael will be buzzing

While Bryan has not featured particularly often for Sheffield United following his move from Manchester City in August 2018, having made a total of just 19 appearances for the club, the 24-year-old certainly demonstrated towards the back end of last season that he is a centre-back who boasts a significant amount of potential.

Indeed, over his 13 Premier League appearances for Paul Heckingbottom’s side last term, the £3k-per-week man helped his side keep two clean sheets and made an average of one interception, 1.5 tackles, 2.7 clearances per game, as well as winning an impressive 4.3 duels per fixture.

The £1.8m-rated defender also scored one goal and creating one big chance for his teammates, in addition to making an average of 0.3 key passes per league game.

These returns saw the man whose former manager Chris Wilder dubbed a “talented” player earn an average SofaScore match rating of 6.74, ranking him as United’s 10th-best performer in the top flight.

As such, Bryan would very much appear to make a fantastic addition to West Brom’s options in the centre of defence next season.

And, when taking into account the former Manchester City starlet looks likely to be available on a free transfer, as well as Jokanvoic’s rather blunt comments regarding the 24-year-old’s future at Bramall Lane, Ismael is sure to be buzzing about his chances of landing the centre-back this summer.

Liverpool linked to Domenico Berardi

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi after another impressive season in Serie A.

What’s the story?

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (as reported by the Liverpool Echo), the Reds are monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation, with a possible bid being prepared.

The report claims that fellow Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in snapping up Berardi this summer, meaning Jurgen Klopp may have to move quickly in order to secure his man.

New Mohamed Salah

After bagging an impressive 17 goals and providing a further eight assists in just 30 top-flight appearances last season, Berardi earned a place in Italy’s squad for Euro 2020.

The 6 ft forward has carried his fine club form onto the international stage, becoming one of Roberto Mancini’s standout performers in the group stage of the European Championship, with two assists in two games for the unbeaten Italian side leading The Guardian’s Nicky Bandini to say that he, and his club teammate Manuel Locatelli, have been at the heart of the revitalisation of Italy.

He’s been a highly-rated talent in his homeland for many years despite not featuring for one of Italian football’s biggest teams, drawing praise from former AC Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi back in 2014.

“Berardi is a player of great talent, a modern footballer who plays for the team all over the field,” said Sacchi. “He has liveliness, intuition, temperament, and strength combined with a good technique.”

A failed two-year stint at Juventus saw Berardi fail to make a single appearance for the Old Lady, spending the entirety of his time back on loan at Sassuolo, but he’s continually been linked with another exit since.

At 26, the pacey gem may think it’s the right time to take the next step in his career, and Liverpool’s director of football Michael Edwards could discover the club’s new Mohamed Salah with a swoop over the coming months.

The Eygpt international has fired the Reds to Champions League and Premier League glory since making his switch from Serie A outfit Roma four seasons ago, and Berardi could have a similar impact.

He’s contributed to 172 goals in 291 games for his boyhood club to date, highlighting the star quality he possesses. And he could become the next attacking talent from Italian football to steer Klopp’s charges to major trophies next season.

Manchester City: Fans react to Adrian Bernabe exit update

Adrian Bernabe is set to leave Manchester City to join Italian side Parma, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

In 2020/21, the Spaniard was something of a revelation within the Citizens Under-23 set up, chipping in with 10 goal contributions in the space of 16 appearances; three goals and seven assists [Transfermarkt].

Having also made five senior appearances for City, he has now chosen to leave the Etihad Stadium following three years at the club [Manchester Evening News].

Romano has confirmed that the 20-year-old is on route to Italy, where he will link up with his former Blues Under-23 boss Enzo Maresca, who recently took up the managerial position at I Crociati [Parma Calcio 1913].

In light of this news, no wonder loads of Manchester City diehards took to Twitter to voice their opinion at recent developments.

Smith drops transfer hint amid Villa links

Kerr Smith has hinted he will not be making a move to Villa Park this summer amid rumours of Aston Villa’s interest.

What’s been said?

In comments recently made in an interview with The Courier, the centre-back claimed that he is solely focused on getting more game time under his belt in the Scottish Premiership with Dundee United next season, rather than worrying about any speculation regarding his future.

The 16-year-old has been linked with a move to the likes of Aston Villa and Manchester United in the past, while The Sun recently reported that Dean Smith’s side, as well as Leicester City, are once again considering a move for the defender this summer, with Dundee United thought to be demanding a fee of £500k to part with the youngster.

However, if Smith’s recent comments are anything to go by, a summer transfer would appear to be the last thing on his mind, with the starlet stating: “To get five games in the Premiership at 16-years-old is a pretty good return, but I want to get more. I’m looking to get 10-15 games a season.

“I think the gaffer [Micky Mellon] has got a lot of trust in me because he’s coached me for a long time now through the U18s. I’ve just got to keep working hard in training because nothing is definite.

“If I don’t train well then I’m not going to deserve to play but, for me, that’s not going to happen. I’m going to go in there and earn my place.”

Smith will be gutted

Having already gone on to make five appearances for the Dundee United first team at just 16 years of age, it is clear that Micky Mellon believed Smith had a fantastic future ahead of him in the game during his time in Scotland.

Indeed, with centre-back being a position in which great physical strength, perfect concentration and fantastic discipline are required, the fact that Dundee United feel the youngster is already capable in all of these qualities would appear to indicate that Smith boasts a tremendous amount of potential.

And, considering the reported interest of teams such as Manchester United, Leicester City and Aston Villa, this would appear to be a perspective that is shared by a number of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

As such, the centre-back’s latest comments – while they do not categorically rule out a move this summer – are sure to have left Dean Smith gutted, as, if the man whom Mark Connolly dubbed a “fantastic” talent does indeed remain in Scotland this summer, before going on to have an impressive breakthrough campaign next term, the interest in his services is only likely to increase – something that could ultimately rule Villa out of a move.

Man Utd linked to Kieran Trippier

Manchester United are interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster his first-team squad.

What’s the story?

According to the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old is available for the right price in the upcoming transfer window as cash-strapped Atleti look to raise some funds, with United and fellow Premier League outfit Everton thought to be keen on his signature.

Trippier has impressed since moving to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium two years ago, helping Diego Simeone’s side lift the La Liga title in the recently concluded campaign.

United must swoop

The Old Trafford outfit are thought to be prioritising moves for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane this summer, but it’s believed they remain keen to bring in Trippier if their budget allows them to make a move.

United had a solid 2020/21 campaign, finishing second in the top-flight table, before being surprisingly beaten by Unai Emery’s Villarreal in the Europa League final.

Their lack of strength in depth was exposed in the showpiece event in Gdansk when Solskjaer refused to make a single substitution until deep into extra time, despite the goalless scoreline.

Adding some quality additions to his side’s starting XI is, therefore, not the Norwegian’s sole objective over the imminent transfer window.

The addition of some much-needed strength in depth is also required if the 20-time English champions are to return to their former glory, and Trippier’s arrival would provide just that.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has impressed in the right-back berth since his arrival from Crystal Palace back in 2019, but his exceptionally high game time illustrates the Red Devils’ current issue.

The 23-year-old has made 100 appearances for United in just two years, an unsustainably high figure in the long-term, meaning Solskjaer must swoop for the £18 million rated Trippier before the Toffees do.

While Wan-Bissaka excels in the defensive aspect of his game, Trippier is more at home in the final third, and England manager Gareth Southgate has been quick to praise for former Tottenham Hotspur star’s crossing ability whilst he was on international duty in the past.

“Kieran has outstanding quality, and that kind of profile in that position is very important,” said Southgate.

His addition would add top-quality cover and competition in the full-back positions and give United a more natural attacking option against suitable opponents, potentially propelling the English giants back towards major trophies.

Southampton eye Tom Davies move

According to Football Insider, Southampton are interested in signing Tom Davies from Everton during the summer transfer window.

The Lowdown: Busy summer ahead

After what was a disappointing season – the Saints ended up in 15th place in the Premier League table – the south coast outfit could well be busy during the transfer window.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has already confirmed that he is interested in a striker (Hampshire Live), but the Saints have now been linked with a move for a central midfielder.

The Latest: Saints want Davies

It is now being reported by Football Insider that Southampton are interested in a move for £14.4m-valued Davies (Transfermarkt).

The Everton midfielder is out of contract at Goodison Park in 2023 (Transfermarkt), and talks are yet to commence over a new deal with the Toffees.

The Verdict: Interesting option

Davies burst on to the scene at Goodison Park during the 2016/17 campaign as a teenager, when he made 24 appearances in the Premier League. He scored against Manchester City in a 4-0 win and it seemed that he would become the next big thing – he was even compared to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard by talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham in 2019.

His career has stagnated a bit in recent times. He made just 25 appearances in the 2020/21 Premier League and has come in for criticism from some Everton supporters (This is Futbol). However, he is just 22 years of age and has plenty of time to fulfill his potential, so if the Saints can get him in for the right price, he could be an interesting signing to liven up their midfield.

In other news, Southampton are interested in signing this player who has previously been compared to Lionel Messi.

Liverpool fans pleased Adrian could leave

A number of Liverpool supporters have been showing their delight at the news that Adrian’s time at Anfield could come to an end this summer.

Things have gone relatively quiet on the Reds front for the time being, with some players on Euro 2020 duty and others enjoying some downtime after a long season. Jurgen Klopp will be working hard on perfecting his summer transfer business, though, with incomings and outgoings expected at Anfield.

One player whose future appears to be up in the air is Adrian, with the Spaniard proving to be an unconvincing understudy to Alisson.

Having made an impressive start to life on Merseyside, the 34-year-old’s form then began to dip, culminating in a terrible performance which all but single-handedly got Liverpool knocked out of the 2019/20 Champions League by Atletico Madrid. He was also culpable for some errors in the 7-2 drubbing at Villa Park last October.

According to ESPN, Adrian is ‘likely’ to leave the Reds for free this summer, with his contract at the club expiring.

Crystal Palace: Fans react to Dyche latest

Plenty of Crystal Palace fans have been having their say regarding the club’s pursuit of Burnley manager Sean Dyche.

The Eagles’ hierarchy reportedly view Dyche as a suitable candidate to take over at Selhurst Park and recently asked the Clarets how much it would cost to lure the 49-year-old to south London.

A £3m compensation fee is required to bring Dyche to Palace, but according to the Daily Mail, the huge expense of a deal is one of the reasons it is now being held up.

They claimed that a move for Dyche could end up costing Palace around £7m per year in wages and salary. Dyche would also like a £3m bonus included in any move for keeping the club in the Premier League, as he does at Turf Moor, and it is believed the Eagles are now considering other options as a result.

Frank Lampard, Chris Wilder and Steve Cooper are all thought to be on the club’s shortlist.

Palace fans react

@CPFCtransfersHQ shared the news regarding Dyche on Twitter on Friday evening. Here is what these Eagles supporters had to say in reply.
