أشاد إسماعيل يوسف عضو مجلس إدارة نادي الزمالك، بالمدير الفني البرتغالي جوسفالدو فيريرا، مُشددًا على أن انتقاده بشدة لمجرد هزيمته في مباراة أمر غير مقبول.

وتوج فيريرا مع الزمالك بالدوري المصري والكأس، وخسر أمام الأهلي في بطولة كأس السوبر المصري بهدفين دون رد.

وقال إسماعيل يوسف في تصريحات عبر قناة “الزمالك”: “أهم شيء عند جمهور الزمالك هو حصد البطولات، ولعب كرة قدم جيدة، والفريق تحت قيادة فيريرا يُحقق 80% مما يحلمون به”.

وواصل: “الزمالك يمتلك فريقًا قويًا، ومُدعم بـ 5 لاعبين ناشئين على مستوى جيد، وفيريرا يهتم بهذا القطاع وطلب جدول مبارياته وسيُتابعه”.

وأردف: “كيف يتم التشكيك في فيريرا؟ هل من أجل مباراة خسرها؟، أنا أرفض هذا الكلام، هو مدير فني كبير جدًا ويمتلك إمكانيات رائعة، وفاز ببطولات، ولو خسر بطولة فهي ليست نهاية العالم، النادي يستطيع حصد البطولات في حالة توفير الاستقرار، ونحن مع المدرب البرتغالي قادرون على ذلك”.

واختتم إسماعيل يوسف بالحديث عن مصطفى شلبي المنضم حديثًا لصفوف الزمالك، قائلًا: “لو تم تثبيته في مركز الجناح الأيسر سينضم لمنتخب مصر، إمكانياته تظهر في هذا المركز، وهو لاعب جيد ويُجيد على مرمى الخصوم”.

In only his seventh t20 appearance 22-year-old Smith bagged excellent figures of five wickets for 24 runs to derail a Kent run chase which started strongly only to fade with the loss of three wickets in as many overs.The defeat leaves Kent next-to-bottom in the South Group with seven defeats from nine starts, while a fourth success for Middlesex maintains their hopes of reaching the knockout stages and assured a winning end to Adam Gilchrist’s short sojourn as acting Panthers’ captain.Chasing 155 for victory at a rate of 8.5 an over, Kent made a flying start through Rob Key and Martin van Jaarsveld (25) who matched the Panthers first-wicket stand by posting 54 before van Jaarsveld miscued to backward point against Smith. The left-arm spinner then turned one past the outside edge of Geraint Jones’ bat as he advanced down the pitch to gift Adam Gilchrist a simple stumping and send the right-hander packing for four.Having hit 42 from 40 balls Kent skipper Key was out-foxed by new Middlesex captain Neil Dexter, whose canny slower ball forced Key to drag a lofted straight drive into the hands of Tim Murtagh at long-on and make it 80 for 3. Gilchrist and his compatriot, Warner, posted 54 for the first wicket inside seven overs until Warner (29), in attempting to hit the third ball of the night from Malinga Bandara over the bowler’s head, found a thick outside edge to short third man.Having hit two fours and a six in his 28 – his highest score in five appearances at Lord’s – Gilchrist’s heave across the line skied to mid on where van Jaarsveld, having run from midwicket took a good catch. Kent did well to restrict Middlesex to 18 runs from the next six overs and remove Dexter and Owais Shah, who both hit hard, low drives straight to the fielder at long off .Dawid Malan, after a cameo 41 from 24 balls and with three sixes, smeared a back-foot force straight to Sam Northeast at long on. Mahmood’s slower ball enticed Scott Newman to hole out and though Gareth Berg heaved two sixes into the grandstand in Shaw’s final over, yet there remained a underlying sense that the Panthers had underachieved.

That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Mark McAdam, who delivered an intriguing update on the situation live on air on Thursday morning.

“This will get Tottenham fans excited, they’ve been screaming for a creative midfielder, someone to replace Christian Eriksen, someone who can score goals, set up goals, and be really dynamic in that front three.

“And Tottenham fans will like this one, because potentially, Jesse Lingard is on their radar,” he said.

“Tottenham are keen to sign Lingard and they have approached his representatives over the course of this window, potentially with a view to a move in January, possibly, maybe more likely, the summer.

“There has been dialogue opened between Jesse Lingard’s representatives and Tottenham.”

Exciting news?

Indeed, it does appear as if many around north London would love to see Spurs make a move for the Manchester United outcast, and it’s easy to see why.

In reactions sourced by This Is Futbol, several members of the Lilywhites faithful expressed their delight in previous links to the England international.

“Get it done Don Fabio,” claimed one, whilst another said: “yes, a midfielder who scored goals”. A further fan even pointed out that he fits the homegrown quota.

Lingard has struggled for minutes at Old Trafford this season, being restricted to 272 minutes in all competitions but it was only last season that he proved his credentials during a loan stint at London rivals West Ham United.

He delivered nine goals and five assists across 16 appearances to fire the Irons into the Europa League. This included a goal in their win over Spurs in the Premier League, too.

Those at the London Stadium were desperate to keep him following the spell, with assistant manager Stuart Pearce lauding him as a “special lad” to talkSPORT during the summer.

A career average of 1.4 key passes per 90, including a high of 1.9 during the 2016/17 league campaign, does indeed suggest that Lingard could be the man to fulfil that Eriksen role in N17.

Therefore, McAdam is right – there is plenty to be excited about if you’re a Lilywhites supporter. As evident above, many would love to see him join, either this month or in the summer.

What’s the talk?

According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies are eyeing a swoop for the centre-forward as they attempt to beat Ligue 1 side Lyon to his signature.

The report claims that he is out of contract at the end of the season and Lyon are struggling to land him this month a they will not pay more than £3m, with Newcastle now looking to take advantage of the situation by making a move of their own.

Could solve big NUFC problem

Eddie Howe could solve a big problem for Newcastle by completing a deal to sign Azmoun this month. Callum Wilson recently suffered a calf injury and could be out for several months, which leaves the squad light at the top end of the pitch.

The 29-year-old has scored six Premier League goals for the club this season and is one of only two Magpies players to have netted more than once in the top flight in 2021/22. This illustrates the overreliance on him to find the net and get the team out of trouble, a key issue which needs to be addressed before the end of the transfer window.

By signing Azmoun, Howe could find a solution. The Zenit marksman has scored 10 goals in 21 games this season, including two goals in three Champions League starts.

Iran coach Carlos Queiroz previously heaped praise on the attacker, saying: “He has all the qualities to succeed at the highest level. He is improving all the time. He has to keep his feet on the ground, work hard and make the right decisions. If so, he could be a real star of Iranian and Asian football for years to come.”

Azmoun himself once admitted that he would like to play in England, saying: “I’m a fan of Real Madrid. but I’m in love with English Premier League and it would be a dream for me to play in England’s top division.”

Last season, he scored 19 goals in 21 league starts for Zenit, adding further weight to his goalscoring pedigree. This shows that he could have the quality to join Newcastle and fill the scoring void with Wilson out injured, which is why they must complete a deal for him ahead of Lyon this month.

Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez has been tipped to shine at Newcastle United if a potential shock move goes through in January.

The Lowdown: Gomez struggling for playing time

The 24-year-old’s 2020/21 season was ruined by a serious knee injury and he has struggled to get going this time around, too.

Gomez is currently sidelined with a separate issue but he wasn’t featuring prominently before his latest absence, appearing for just 13 minutes in the Premier League.

The England international has been linked with a ‘shock’ move away from Liverpool in January and Eddie Howe could view him as an option to come in.

The Verdict: Surely Klopp won’t sell

Gomez will find it hard to become a regular at Liverpool in the near future, given the presence of both Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, but it would still be a huge surprise if he was allowed to leave.

The Reds’ centre-back injury crisis last season shows that having as many good options as possible is vital, as Klopp’s men look to win both the Premier League and Champions League.

Not only that but Van Dijk and Matip are now 30 years of age – six years Gomez’s senior – so he may well be looked at as the future of Liverpool’s back-line, along with Ibrahima Konate.

It wasn’t long ago that he was Van Dijk’s main partner, starting 22 out of 38 league games in the title-winning season, so he will surely still be seen as an important figure moving forward, assuming he is the same player after injury.

According to Dutch outlet AD, Gers target Joey Veerman is set to undergo a medical with PSV Eindhoven ahead of a €5.5m (£4.6m) switch from Heerenveen, with the report claiming that they have beaten Feyenoord to his signature.

The Scotsman have also carried a claim from the Netherlands stating that he is due to join PSV for a fee of €6m (£5m), having been heavily linked with a move to Ibrox in the summer.

Last month, journalist Pete O’Rourke touted him as a player who Giovanni van Bronckhorst would look to sign in his first transfer window in charge at the club.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Veerman will definitely be high on the list of targets. They tried to sign him in the summer and he still remains high on their list of potential targets.

“With van Bronckhorst in there now, I think it just gives extra weight in maybe following up that interest in the Dutchman.”

This will infuriate the Gers

Van Bronckhorst is headed for his first disaster in Glasgow, as missing out on a deal for the Dutch midfielder could be a major blow for the club. O’Rourke claimed that he was one of their top targets for the January window and they are now set to watch him sign for another Eredivisie club instead of coming over to Scotland, which could alter their plans in the market.

This news will also surely infuriate Rangers fans as Veerman could have been a superb signing for the Scottish champions. He has proven his quality in the top division of Dutch football in recent years and shown that he can perform consistently to a high level.

Since the start of the 2019/20 campaign, the midfielder has produced 14 goals and 21 assists in 71 appearances whilst averaging a sublime WhoScored rating of 7.33. This season, he has averaged a rating of 7.32 from the website and provided three goals and six assists in 18 Eredivisie outings.

The 23-year-old could therefore have been an excellent addition to Van Bronckhorst’s side, as he is capable of delivering consistently strong performances whilst chipping in with vital contributions in the final third.

This is why Rangers fans will be infuriated by this news, as the club have allowed PSV to beat them in the race for his services. It also illustrates why this is a disaster for the Gers head coach, as he is missing out on what could have been a quality signing.

Liverpool are among a host of top clubs still interested in signing Fiorentina sensation Dusan Vlahovic, according to a report which has emerged.

The Lowdown: Vlahovic shining for Fiorentina

The 21-year-old is arguably one of Europe’s most exciting young attacking players currently, having caught the eye hugely in Italy.

Vlahovic has scored has scored 10 goals in just 13 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina this season – only one league goal fewer than Mohamed Salah in 2021/22 – taking his overall tally for the club to 41 in 98 matches.

It looks as though one of Europe’s top clubs will snap up the Serbian eventually, and Liverpool look set to be in the race to sign him.

According to 90min, the Reds are ‘keeping close tabs’ on Vlahovic’s current situation, with his Fiorentina deal expiring in the summer of 2023.

Vlahovic seems to not only be an incredible long-term prospect but also someone who could immediately become a key performer for Liverpool, having been hailed as ‘incredible’ by Italian football expert Conor Clancy.

With Roberto Firmino now 30 years of age, and Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both 29, the Reds’ attack will need freshening up at some point in the foreseeable future.

Vlahovic could be the man to lead the line for years to come, with the youngster averaging one key pass, 2.2 headers won and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A this season, showing his all-round effectiveness as a striker in addition to his Salah-esque scoring return.
